About our Catheter, Bowel & Stoma care

Our staff have extensive training in all aspects of catheter, bowel and stoma care providing clinical management whilst promoting dignity and independence. They are able to apply appropriate management systems, assess tissue viability, record accurate fluid & nutritional balances and escalate care where necessary.

For bowel or urological stoma care, our staff are trained to meet your individual requirements whether that requires full support long term or just initial assistance to promote your own independence whilst learning to manage yourself.

Our bowel management care also covers all aspects of regular toileting regimes starting with medication management, digital stimulation and evacuation and use of bowel irrigation systems for clients with pathologies such as neurogenic dysfunction.

What is a catheter?

A catheter is a tube that is inserted into your bladder, allowing your urine to drain freely. The most common reasons for using a catheter are to rest the bladder following an episode of urinary retention or to rest the bladder after surgery – most commonly bladder, bowel or urinary tract surgery.
